NYC Workshop Program In spring 2018, Bond Street Theatre launched a free social theatre workshop program in collaboration with Downtown Art for teens living in the NYC area. The program culminated in a presentation of our original play, The Law of the Jungle, first developed with Nangarhar Theatre of Afghanistan nearly a decade ago! In 2018, with support from the United States Institute of Peace, Bond Street Theatre launched the next phase of its highly successful Youth Mobilization for Peace and Justice Project, which informs communities across Afghanistan about their legal rights and the means for accessing justice. The BST-trained youth leadership groups in five provinces will foster public awareness about rule of law and processes for countering corruption and bribery through entertaining and informative public performances, radio plays, and workshops designed to reach all segments of the community. In 2018 Bond Street Theatre began the second year of its programming in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, working with refugee and migrant populations to use theatre as an information-sharing and advocacy tool. Collaborating with Asylum Access Malaysia, Masakini Theatre, and the Rohingya Women's Development Network, BST and partners work to translate critical information regarding healthcare, education and legal rights into illustrative, mobile plays that can be performed by and for refugees.
