Our Programs

Bond Street Theatre utilizes the performing arts to provide joy and laughter, educational enrichment, trauma relief, post-conflict rehabilitation and cultural stimulation as a path to peace.

The company works directly with disadvantaged communities and collaborates with local artists as a means to promote cross-cultural understanding. We create educational and artistic programs for refugee camps, theatres, universities, schools, and centers for women and children.

The company works in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Albania, Romania, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Israel, Indonesia, China, Japan and elsewhere.

Afghanistan Projects

Bond Street Theatre has been working in Afghanistan since 2003. Our long-term goal is to introduce culturally sensitive theatre-based educational programs into Afghan schools, especially targeting girls who have few outlets for creative physical expression and to help revitalize the arts after years of cultural repression.

Performing Artists for Balkan Peace

After four years working closely with artists across the Balkans, the idea to bring these vibrant artists together was natural. The Performing Artists for Balkan Peace was created to bring together professional theatre companies, individual artists, and theatre practitioners from across the Balkans to exchange, discuss, and create new work that addresses the issues of the region.

The new network is devoted to the active pursuit of social progress and artistic cooperation through the performing arts, and strengthening the role of the artist in the community. The PABP collaborates on original performance projects and involves local communities through site-specific works, workshops and outreach.

Arts in the Community

Bond Street Theatre has an active Arts-in-Education program that brings us to schools, libraries and community centers throughout the New York area. In addition, our workshop programs have served as a means for healing in many situations. The group has created special programs for the children and families of 9-11 victims, workshops on Native American reservations, and projects with inner-city children and with other groups for whom the arts can serve to heal, uplift and inspire.
